Current Minister

Rev. Higginson came out of retirement to help this church work towards a "transformation" from surviving to thriving. His Masters in Divinity is from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. His recent experience is in the business world. He has a background of parish ministry. The worshippers here continue to seek spiritual maturity, grow in knowledge of His word, assist fellow travelers to know God's love and offer their thanks and praise at Sunday Worship and through other venues. Bill's Sunday message is insightful and well delivered. Plus, his voice adds some beautiful harmony to our hymn singing.

He has been with us for 6 months now, moderating Session meetings; continuing to contact members and visitors; and assisting the 3 teams he established to facilitate change (Planning Leadership TEAM, Worship Leadership TEAM, Outreach Leadership TEAM). He attends and encourages the TEAM leaders to represent our church at ACTS 16:5 gatherings, an initiative sponsored by the Chicago Presbytery to help struggling churches to reassess their purpose and give them "tools" to take strides towards growth. Soon he'll help guide us in forming a Vision Team which will, during this period of rexamination, put down in simple terms what it is we believe and practice as The People of God.

These are exciting times....of new vision and action. We welcome you to visit us at First Presbyterian Church of Des Plaines and take advantage of the gifts our minister, Rev. Higginson, has to offer. Come! Be a part of our new start!
